IMPROVISED PLAY
Students will learn improv basics and storytelling skills through age-appropriate, imaginative games and lessons. They will engage with improv essentials such as character, voice, use of body, agreement and listening. Throughout the course, students will devise a stories of their own creation. On their final class demonstration day, they will share with their families some of their favorite games and will improvise some of their original stories.

Dates: 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, and 11/18
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Class Performance: Saturday, November 18th, 2017 @ 10:30 a.m. (Second Stage)

Danielle Klaiman

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Danielle Klaiman is a trained and certified Montessori preschool teacher who has been teaching in the classroom for over ten years. She started studying improv at PHIT in 2011, and in 2013 she was cast on the PHIT house team, Sabotage, which retired from the theater in Summer 2016. Danielle is currently a cast member in the Family Friendly show, Finders Keepers, at PHIT Comedy. Additionally, she has also been performing with the independent improv team, Skeletons, Etc., since 2013. When Danielle is not teaching or performing she loves spending time with her family and reliving her teenage years by going to punk and ska shows with her sister.

Melissa Widhson

ABOUT YOUR TEACHING ASSISTANT
Melissa is a Philadelphia native who is thrilled to be back home after spending eleven years in New York City. Melissa worked as a teaching artist for nine years in Manhattan and Spanish Harlem, and later on founded her own non-profit organization, Honeybee House, on the Lower East Side. In New York, she studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade and performed with many improv and sketch comedy troupes in NYC and LA. Melissa can be seen performing at PHIT in the Family Friendly show, Finders Keepers, and throughout the comedy community on the indie team, Bill Parks. Melissa is a proud graduate of PHIT Comedy’s improv training program. She is very excited to be teaching again after giving birth to her baby girl, River. When not teaching or being a mom, Melissa enjoys sleeping, taking naps and spending time with her family and cats.
