Intro to Improvised Scenework: Students will learn the basic improv concept of “Yes, and..” and discover how a scene can be created through agreement. They will also learn important basic improv skills like: creating characters, establishing relationships, exploring scenes with objects and environment work. Students will then combine these skills to create fully improvised scenes with a partner. Meets once a week for eight weeks.
Prerequisites: None!

Day: Friday
Dates: 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, and 12/8
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Graduation Show Date/Time: Saturday, December 16th, 2017 @ 12:30 p.m. (2nd Stage)

Class Location: Rehearsal Room A (2nd Floor)

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Nick Gillette is a physical theatre artist, a co-­founder of Almanac Dance Circus Theatre, and an instructor at the Philly Improv Theater. He is a graduate of the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training, a 2014 New York Live Arts Fresh Tracks resident artist, a 2016 Colgate University Christian A. Johnson resident artist, and currently a resident artist at the Philadelphia School for Circus Arts. With Almanac he has collaborated to devise and perform Communitas (2014), Nightfall (2014), The Fleecing (2015), Leaps of Faith and Other Mistakes (2015), and Exile2588, to premiere in the 2016 Fringe Arts Festival. He has performed with Cabaret Red Light, BRAT Productions, Groundswell Players (now Lighting Rod Special), Pig Iron Theatre Co., Alex Bechtel, and the Philly Improv Theater.

You can see him at PHIT every third Saturday of the month in The Wadsworth Constant, an improvised absurdist one­-act play.
