ABOUT ABOUT

This two hour introductory workshop gives cautious students the chance to “try before you buy”, by sampling some of the fun things you'll do in an 8 week improv course at PHIT. You'll learn the core improv concept of "agreement", how to create characters from nothing, and you'll dip your toes into improvised scenework.

This class is perfect for people of all experience levels. You do not need to have prior experience or be an actor / comedian. PHIT has students from all walks of life and all ages. We have people that are looking to make a go of improvising, but we have also had students that were just looking to meet new people, improv public speaking confidence, try something new, or simply have fun for two hours. There is no commitment here to register for a full class, only come in ready to have a good time.

What Students Say About Frank
"Frank is a godsend! The transformation I’ve seen in my ability to build a scene with an in-depth character in Week 8 compared to Week 1 is night and day. If you don’t take Frank’s class, you should feel really bad about yourself.” — “Frank is amazing. I went into this class dreading improv and came out of it excited to take improv 201.”

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Frank began improvising in 2009, when he joined La Salle University’s troupe Improv 101. There he learned the important rule of jump on the bomb so that everybody else looks good. He studied at PHIT under Steve Kleinedler, Mike Marbach, and Greg Maughan, and at the UCB Theater in New York. Frank studied extensively with Maggy Keegan, and taught with her at Figment Theater in Philadelphia, where she helped him discover the power of emotional honesty, the endless joy of playing games, and a core belief that this is the most fun thing we can be doing, and we should always strive to treat it as such.

He has workshopped with many excellent teachers from around the country including iOWest in LA, the Annoyance and IO in Chicago, and UCB in New York. He has performed across the country including New York, Chicago, Boston, Austin, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Baltimore, North Carolina, and Detroit. He also ate and slept in those cities. He currently performs with elder teams Big Baby, Triple Double, and Study Hall, hosts bimonthly improv show Frankenstein, writes and performs on Screenwriting 4 Dummies, writes and performs in the sketch comedy duo The Prince, and co-hosts a podcast about how cool MTV’s the Challenge is. He currently directs PHIT House Team Channel 77, and teams Wussy Riot and Kid Handsome all of whom make him smarter and better and some of whom are trying to help him kick his DVD buying habit.

Past projects include John Hughes High, The Milk & Cookies Show, Chaperone, WildCard!, House of Solitude presents A Galaxy Uncherished, and critically acclaimed (by a solitary audience member, but he swears it’s the best show he saw that year!) radio duo Boner & the Noise. Sometimes he does non-comedy things, no matter what his friends and family tell you.

TL;DR Frank teaches, directs, and performs in comedy things in Philadelphia.
