Through a series of exercises focused on personal attention, practice with various improv forms and styles, discussion of what they do and do not enjoy seeing on stage, eight (8) students selected from the pool of applicants to this Improv Conservatory class will spend 8-weeks creating a unique style for a run of their own at PHIT. During four weeks of shows at The Philly Improv Theater students will receive further feedback from their director, have the chance to watch recordings of their performances to improve their stage skills, and adjust their show as a group throughout a run.
Prerequisite: Completion of Improv 401
COP SQUAD
Cop Squad! is an improvised buddy cop show that'll play with the tropes of television's favorite prime-time dramas. Each show will build on the last, with character arcs and plots spanning multiple shows. The episodic format of the show will teach improvisers to make choices and moves that will potentially play out over multiple performances. This show would be ideal for any performers looking to do more narrative or character driven improv.
