STAND-UP ELECTIVE
This class will give students an understanding of how to begin crafting a stand-up comedy act, from absolute beginner advice on stage presence to different approaches to generating material. Students will use the skills they gained in their Short-Form Improv classes to learn how to take their thoughts, experiences, and observations about life and blend them with their own unique sense of humor and personality to begin crafting their own routine. Includes class performance a the end of the course. 
Pre-requisite: Completion of two sessions of Beginner Short-Form Improv at PHIT Comedy, or approval of the Kids & Teens Coordinator.

LaTice Klapa

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
LaTice is thrilled to be joining the staff of PHIT Kids & Teens. She has been performing stand-up for years in Philadelphia and beyond. She has opened for some of comedy’s top headliners including Sasheer Zamata, Tony Rock, Jessica Kirson, and Buddy Fitzpatrick, just to name a few. Her conversational comedy centers around her day to day encounters and her life as a mother and wife. LaTice was picked as one of the 101 Comedians to compete in the MAIN EVENT for The World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas 2012. LaTice has performed in comedy clubs all along the East Coast and is making her way out west.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHING ASSISTANT
Lamarr was born and raised in Chester, PA and performed at The People’s Light & Theater Company from age 12 to 18. At the age of 17 he was made an assistant improv teacher in the People’s Light’s summer program and continued that the following year.He has performed in several mainstage plays for theaters along the East Coast.

Lamarr is well known as a local standup comic. He started his comedy career at the Laffhouse Comedy Club in Philadelphia, PA, which led to various performances at comedy clubs nationwide. In addition to winning numerous standup comedy competitions in Philadelphia, Lamarr has had the opportunity to open for Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon, Michael Colyar, Monique and other nationally known headlining acts. He has also starred in the Movie "Kony Montana" with comic Michael Blackson.

Lamarr has taught improv to children at The Chester Community Charter School and is a regular performer with StoryUP!, an improv group that uses comedy and storytelling to inspire creativity and build literacy skills in kids ages preschool through teen. Lamarr is excited to bring his experience and enthusiasm to PHIT Kids & Teens. He is currently teaching 4th grade in Chester. Expect to see Lamarr teaching or venting on a stage near you!
